About the Product
Clay plaster traditionally consists of clay, sand and silt. Clay design plasters are made of clay in colour shades with or without the addition of earth pigments and are used as decorative plasters. Organic or inorganic components such as mother-of-pearl are often added. They can be applied as hand plaster or by machine in plaster thicknesses of 2 to 5 mm.
The conlino loam precious plasters are composed of coloured loam and clay, mixed-grained quartz sand (up to 1 mm in diameter) and cellulose. Different effect materials such as shimmering straw fibres or metallic sparkling mica can be added optionally. The 16 natural colours of the clay can be mixed with each other and tinted with pigments to achieve a broader colour spectrum.
The clay precious plasters can be applied to all load-bearing substrates. These must be dry, clean, solid, free of film-forming and greasy substances as well as sufficiently rough (non-slip) and even. The surface must be primed before application. Sufficient absorbency must be ensured. With their physical properties, earthen precious plasters support constant moisture regulation, room acoustics and heat storage capacity.
The recycling of the clay plaster (for example, as render) depends on its varietal purity as well as the substrate used. The natural building material is biodegradable if there is no contamination by the substrate, binders or stabilisers.
